Universities for Giulio Regeni. Ten years after his disappearance, an initiative for freedom of research
On 13 April 2026, the event “Le Università per Giulio Regeni. A dieci anni dalla scomparsa, un’iniziativa per la libertà di ricerca" [Universities for Giulio Regeni. Ten years after his disappearance, an initiative for freedom of research] will take place at the University of Milan, as part of the national initiative coordinated by Senator for Life Elena Cattaneo.
The event is part of a broader cycle of initiatives involving 76 Italian universities between April and May 2026, aimed at promoting public reflection on the freedom of study and research through the case of Italian researcher Giulio Regeni. The programme includes a meeting with the academic community and Giulio Regeni’s parents, followed by the screening of the documentary “Giulio Regeni – Tutto il male del mondo” and a public debate on human rights, academic freedom, and the role of universities in protecting scientific research.
