The Crisis in Juvenile Justice: Root Causes and Strategies for Change

On June 6, 2025, starting at 4:00 p.m., the conference “The Crisis in Juvenile Justice: Root Causes and Strategies for Change” will take place in Bologna. The event is an opportunity to reflect on the serious challenges currently affecting Italy’s juvenile justice system. The growing reliance on detention, poor facility conditions, lack of meaningful educational programs, and the limited use of alternative measures are all undermining the original purpose of juvenile justice — to protect and rehabilitate.

Scholars, practitioners, and institutional representatives will come together to discuss the deeper causes of this crisis and identify concrete paths toward reform.

Attendance is free until capacity is reached. For more details, please see the attached flyer.
