REFORM TRUST: Ideas on Penal Environments
In April and May 2025, a series of events titled “REFORM TRUST: Ideas on Penal Environments” will be held at Dropcity in Milan, organized and curated by Federica Verona and Valeria Verdolini.
The project, an integral part of Prison Times: Spatial Dynamics of Penal Environments, weaves together architectural, sociological, legal, and cultural knowledge to question the role of prisons in contemporary society. Through the contributions of guest speakers, topics will include penal populism, overcrowding, prison labor, and economic deprivation, as well as reform, humanization, and the design of carceral spaces. The goal of the series is to give voice and depth to one of the most marginalized spaces in civil discourse, at a time when prisons seem to have vanished from the political agenda.
