Justice and Politics: Crisis and Rebuilding of Criminal Garantism

On March 27, 2025, the event "Justice and Politics: Crisis and Rebuilding of Criminal Garantism" will take place, marking the recent release of the book of the same name by Luigi Ferrajoli (Emeritus Professor of Philosophy of Law – University of Roma Tre). The event is part of the book presentation and discussion series "Politics, Justice, Business", organized by the National Center for Social Prevention and Defense Foundation (CNPDS).
The discussion will focus on the history of criminal garantism and its current crisis. According to Luigi Ferrajoli, overcoming this crisis requires developing a theory of criminal garantism within a broader general theory of garantism, based on the idea that most crimes can be prevented through rights safeguards and social policies rather than penal policies. The author will be joined in conversation by Vittorio Manes (Full Professor of Criminal Law – University of Bologna), Daniela Quattrocolo (Full Professor of Criminal Procedural Law – University of Turin) and Fabio Roia (President of the Court of Milan).
Participation is possible both in person and online, subject to registration at the following webpage.
