Book Presentation: "Giustizia Universale?" by Chantal Meloni

As part of the series organized in collaboration with the Human Rights Foundation, Libreria Hoepli will host the presentation of the book Giustizia Universale? Tra gli Stati e la Corte Penale Internazionale: bilancio di una promessa by Chantal Meloni, Professor of International Criminal Law at the University of Milan, who will discuss the book with Danilo De Biasio, Director of the Human Rights Festival.
In 1998, the creation of the International Criminal Court represented the international community's attempt to establish a global criminal justice system to combat impunity for grave crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crimes of aggression. Today, more than twenty years after its establishment, this vision of universal justice faces significant challenges: the failure of many states to adopt adequate national laws and criticisms regarding the selectivity, politicization, and ineffectiveness of the system. Yet, in a world marked by conflicts such as those in Ukraine and Palestine, the link between peace and justice is more inseparable than ever.
