Book presentation: “Criminal Justice in Divided America: Police, Punishment, and the Future of Our Democracy”



On October 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., David A. Sklansky, Professor of Criminal Law at Stanford Law School and Co-Director of the Stanford Criminal Justice Center, will present his latest book, “Criminal Justice in Divided America: Police, Punishment, and the Future of Our Democracy”, published by Harvard University Press (2025).  

The presentation will take place at the University of Milan, as part of the Criminal Law course (Prof. Gatta) and the PhD Program in Legal Studies “Cesare Beccaria”. The event will be held in Room 201. The session will be introduced by Professor Gian Luigi Gatta.  

The book examines the deep crisis affecting the U.S. criminal justice system, highlighting its structural flaws that undermine fairness and contribute to the weakening of American democracy.
