Biennale Democrazia 2025

From March 26 to 30, 2025, Biennale Democrazia returns to Turin, an initiative of the City of Turin, organized by the Fondazione per la Cultura Torino in collaboration with the Polo del ’900, the University of Turin, and the Polytechnic University of Turin. Since its first edition, the event has been held under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and benefits from the support of Intesa Sanpaolo, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, and numerous other partners, including Reale Mutua, Smat, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Titled Wars and Peaces, the ninth edition of Biennale Democrazia will focus on conflict, violence, and war, in light of the persistent threat of internal tensions within democratic societies and an increasingly unstable global landscape. The event will explore democracy as a tool for peaceful coexistence among individuals, nations, and species. While conflict is inherent to the plural nature of our societies, democratic institutions must reaffirm their role in the peaceful resolution of disputes. Far from being the result of humanity’s presumed benevolence, peace is instead the outcome of fragile balances, driven by the necessity of agreements that safeguard the survival of individuals, states, and the planet.
