After Gaza and Ukraine. The Transformations of War and the Consequences for Law

The conference “After Gaza and Ukraine. The Transformations of War and the Consequences for Law”, to be held on October 29, 2025, at the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Milan, explores how armed conflict is changing in the 21st century and how these shifts affect the international legal order.
The first session, devoted to the evolution of contemporary warfare, examines new military and strategic paradigms, from hybrid warfare to imperial logics.
The second session investigates how international and criminal law respond (or struggle to respond) to the increasing complexity of modern conflicts.
The event brings together scholars of international relations, history, law, and philosophy for an interdisciplinary discussion on the major challenges of our time. For further details, please refer to the event poster.
