100 Books for Peace

The Library Service of the Università degli Studi di Milano inaugurates “100 Books for Peace”, a bibliographic exhibition dedicated to the theme of peace, drawing on the University’s library and documentary collections. The initiative is part of the programme “La Statale for Peace”, through which the University promotes opportunities for reflection and dialogue on one of the most pressing issues of our time. The inauguration will take place on 24 February at 11:00 a.m., at the Philosophy Library.

The exhibition originates from an idea by Laura Frigerio, Head of the Humanities Libraries Sector, and is curated by the Library Service. Through a selection of texts and documents, it explores the concept of peace from multiple disciplinary, cultural, and historical perspectives.

“100 Books for Peace” is hosted at two venues:

  1. At the Philosophy Library in via Festa del Perdono, where the display focuses on philosophical thought, political action, civic engagement, and artistic and literary expressions related to peace;
  2. At the Library of Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry and Physics (BICF) in Città Studi, where the exhibition addresses the complex relationship between peace and science.

The books on display are freely accessible, allowing visitors to consult them directly and draw inspiration for personal reflection. The complete list of volumes and documents devoted to the theme of peace is available in the Minerva catalogue, within the special collection “100 Books for Peace”. The collection includes both the titles on display and additional publications selected by the University libraries, and will be progressively expanded with new acquisitions.
