Can one speak of a security paradigm when political responses appear to reinforce fears rather than alleviate them? And, further, can one speak of security when it is conceived as an individual right rather than a common and collective good? Roberto Cornelli’s article “Si fa presto a dire sicurezza” [It's easy to talk about security], published in the second 2026 volume of Eutopica: La rivista delle autonomie locali, explores these questions, arguing that security must be addressed and examined as a whole, rather than fueled by fear-driven rhetoric and exclusionary, criminalizing practices. Building on these premises, Cornelli introduces the contributions featured in the journal’s new issue, "Per una sicurezza democratica: la risposta delle città" [Toward Democratic Security: The Response of Cities], co-edited with Gian Guido Nobili.
