G. Valducci (2025), The Writing of the “Homo Criminalis” in Foucault: From “Fragments of Life” to Autobiography
June 20th, 2025
How is the figure of the delinquent “constructed”? What role can the practice of writing play in this process? Is it possible to break free from the mechanisms of knowledge and power?
These are some of the questions addressed in this paper, which offers an analysis of Michel Foucault’s thought. The central thesis of the article is that the practice of writing, in the construction of the homo criminalis, follows a dialectical movement: from being a tool for inscribing guilt and objectifying existence, it can transform into a means of emancipation and resistance to power through self-narration—when exercised freely and autonomously—within autobiographical practice.
The paper was published in Rivista di Filosofia del Diritto, no. 1, 2025. The full issue is available at the following link.
