The palpability of justice

The article “The palpability of justice”, written by Andrew M. Jefferson and published in Theoretical Criminology, is now available.
The contribution reflects on the meaning of justice beyond its identification with law, legality, and punishment. The author explores the possibility of recognising a concrete and lived dimension of justice, one that can emerge beyond legal institutions and the traditional categories through which justice is defined. Particular attention is given to the role of the arts, poetry, and literature as means of imagining alternative forms of justice and challenging a conception of responses to injustice that relies primarily on punishment. The article also examines an emerging form of self-conscious fiction developed within social movements, considering the potential of poetic and narrative practices to anticipate and contribute to making possible a different future for justice.
