Navigating Pathways Toward Transitional Justice in Ukraine

In these times, when the topic of advancing peace in Ukraine is at the forefront of public debate, we recommend reading the Research brief “Navigating Pathways Toward Transitional Justice in Ukraine,” published by the Geneva Academy in October 2024, which focuses on the prospects for transitional justice in the country. Specifically, the document analyzes the origins of the conflict, illustrates the first transitional justice initiatives promoted in Ukraine, and provides recommendations for building peace. Among these, it advocates for a holistic approach to implementing transitional justice strategies, one that takes into account the systemic factors underlying the hostilities and supports the reintegration of former combatants as well as the participation of local communities in peacebuilding processes.
