April 28th, 2025

In the article “Restorative Justice in Cases of Gender-Based Violence Against Women: Perspectives on Shame, Symbolic Interactionism, and Agency” – published in The International Journal of Restorative Justice in the July 2024 issue – Marta Lamanuzzi examines the relationship between restorative justice and gender-based violence against women perpetrated by men. The author explores this delicate and complex connection by drawing on legal and criminological concepts such as reintegrative shaming, symbolic interactionism, and the notion of agency. She concludes that there are no valid reasons to exclude the use of restorative justice processes for crimes related to gender-based violence.
