Not Just Limits. Encountering Restorative Justice in Prison

The project “Encountering Restorative Justice” (“Incontrare la Giustizia Riparativa”), funded by the "Not Just Limits" (“Non Solo Limiti”) grant from the University of Milan, aims to promote the culture of restorative justice within correctional institutions. This will be done through the implementation of a program called “Restorative Dialogue” (pursuant to Article 53 of Legislative Decree 150/2022). The program will provide a valuable framework for addressing the negative effects of crime and exploring practical ways of reparation.

In particular, a group of inmates from the Bollate Prison and the affected community, represented by students from the “Restorative Justice (Legal Clinic)” course for the 2024/2025 academic year, will be involved in a series of dialogue sessions. These sessions will be guided by a team of expert mediators from the Dike cooperative, who have experience at the Center for Restorative Justice and Criminal Mediation in Milan. The two groups will first meet separately in a series of preliminary sessions, and in a second phase, two plenary meetings will be organized as part of an extended mediation process.
